Neigong, A Holistic And Traditional Chinese Breathing Exercise Technique

Neigong, in English, means “internal work.” It is a holistic and traditional Chinese way of breathing to soothe and calm the spirit, body, and mind. Moreover, it is famous for its power to promote weight loss, tone the skin, and improve health. The energy it gives the immune system lead to a greater capability in resisting diseases and illnesses.

In Chinese culture, NieGong has traditional beginnings. At one point, it was learned from a master to a student in secret. When practicing Neigong, the person moves through a sequence of steps that foments the inner energy for revitalization to its state of original being. Neigong has many types some of which focus on harmonizing and coordinating the breathing and the body. Neigong entails how the body moves and not just its physical movements working in harmony with breathing exercises to bring about inner peace and deep relaxation.

It is also a traditional way of meditating that leads to a greater awareness of normal body processes, such as balance, musculoskeletal alignment and movement and the circulation of the blood. Non-combat Neigong is considered as an essential part of a program to maintain and sustain optimal health. It is the paragon of the Three Treasures of Shen, Chi, and Jing also known as spirit, vitality, and essence.
